Specialists in crime scene and traffic accident documentation and incident visualization from the police, supplemented by experts from forensics, science, surveying and forensic medicine, meet every two to three years for a week in a workshop at the State Office for Training, Further Education and Personnel Affairs of the NRW Police (LAFP NRW). From 11 July to 15 July 2022, it will be that time again at the Neuss training center.
The conference will focus on the possibilities and limitations of documenting and visualizing three-dimensional crime scene findings. Presentations and specialist lectures on interesting cases, innovations in the field of hardware and software and quality management will inform the audience. At the same time, the interdisciplinary exchange between criminal investigation and protection police, scientists, experts and technicians offers a rare and important opportunity to make a cross-comparison with similar end applications and to work out intersections.
We are delighted that participants from 15 different nations have registered for the 15th International Police Conference. The participating nations are:
- Denmark
- Greece
- Italy
- Canada
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Austria
- Poland
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- USA
- Czech Republic
- United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
- Germany
Venue
This year, 120 workshop places can be allocated. Participants will be accommodated in two separate dormitories within the venue. You can expect a single room with shower/WC including full board. A large conference hall serves as a conference venue and exhibition space for innovative technology. In the vicinity of the site, the neighboring Rhine meadows offer beautiful opportunities for long walks or sporting activities. The immediate proximity to Düsseldorf offers the opportunity for an evening visit, which can be easily undertaken by public transport.
Corona
The corona regulations of the state of NRW valid at the time of the event apply.
Exercise on the second day of the event
This year, we want to focus on the topic of major police incidents. To this end, we are going on an excursion to neighboring Krefeld on Tuesday, July 12. Using the example of a derailed passenger train on a factory site, participants will be able to practise the various practical documentation procedures required, practise coordinating operations or watch the incident as passive spectators.
Various methods will be used, such as 3D laser scanners, mobile laser scanning (with and without robots), handheld scanners, multicopters and photogrammetry systems.
Participants must bring their own documentation equipment. Participants who actively take part in the exercise are advised that appropriate protective clothing is required. In particular, footwear with puncture-resistant soles and steel toecaps as well as a helmet are required for personal protection.
Presentations and topics
Every successful International Police Seminar on Photogrammetry/Laser Scanning thrives on the presentations from our own ranks, i.e. presentations from you, dear participants. The presentation of interesting, processed cases, collected experience with hardware and software, strategic considerations for the technical set-up of a department, successful measures for personnel recruitment and the requirements could be topics for possible presentations. International presentations are also particularly interesting, as are interdisciplinary presentations from the fields of science, research, archaeology, surveying and forensic medicine.
With your help, we would also like to make the topic of virtual reality with its great visualization potential one of the focal points of the 15th International Police Seminar Photogrammetry / Laser Scanning.
Wednesday is workshop day
On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, a pure workshop day is planned, where participants can register for various entertaining workshop offers throughout the day and divide themselves up according to their interests.
