Wassenberg - On August 6 (Wednesday), a 26-year-old woman from Romania attracted attention in a retirement home in Wassenberg by conspicuously looking around the apartments and claiming to be looking for a specific resident who did not exist there by name. The home management then alerted the police. The officers established the woman's personal details. After the police measures were completed, the woman got into a vehicle waiting nearby, a silver Audi A6 Avant with a foreign license plate, in which there were four other people. This vehicle was stopped a short time later by a police patrol and checked. Items were found in the car that could have come from thefts, clothing with labels, valuable watches, cash and signs to simulate an emergency. Based on all this information and the fact that the vehicle occupants, four Romanian persons aged between 26 and 52 and one minor, had already been reported to the police for similar crimes and were all without permanent residence in Germany, the four adult vehicle occupants were provisionally arrested. The minor was placed in the care of the youth welfare office. At the request of the Aachen public prosecutor's office, the Aachen district court issued an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old woman. The police investigation is still ongoing.
