At around 10.30 a.m. on 7 March (Friday), a 44-year-old woman was riding her bicycle on a farm track between Effeld and Karken, between the Schaagbach stream and the Baaler Bach stream near the Effeld house.

She intended to overtake a walker with a dog and drew attention to herself by ringing her bicycle bell and shouting. The dog owner then called his animal to him. When the woman from Hückelhoven tried to pass the man, the dog barked and seemed to want to jump towards the woman. The woman then fell and suffered serious injuries. The owner of the dog offered to help the injured woman, but later left without leaving his contact details.

The man was around 65 years old and had short gray hair. He was around 175 to 180 centimetres tall and was dressed in black trousers and a black rain jacket. The dog is said to have been a black and white border collie.

The police are now looking for the dog's owner. Witnesses are asked to contact the police traffic department in Heinsberg on 02451 920 0. You can also provide information via the Heinsberg police website or via the direct link: https://polizei.nrw/artikel/anzeige-hinweis.
