Gangelt/-Mindergangelt - On July 4, a 60-year-old woman intended to eat at a snack bar located next to the outdoor pool. She parked her bicycle within sight. At around 4.30 p.m., she noticed a previously unknown young man approaching her bike on a black mountain bike and stealing the bike computer attached to the handlebars. He fled in the direction of the Netherlands and was described as being 18 to 20 years old, around 175 centimetres tall, dressed in dark clothing with a dark hood and had a southern appearance.

About an hour later, at around 5.30 pm, a 62-year-old woman from Gangelt and her companion went for a bike ride, which also took them along Schinvelder Straße. At Brommler Mühle, they became aware of four young people riding their bikes behind the woman and her companion. As the youths rode very close to the day-trippers, one of the unidentified men grabbed the woman's speedometer and tore it off the handlebars. The attempt to steal the man's speedometer also failed. The group of people then fled in the direction of Schinveld. The youths were described as being around 14 to 16 years old. They were wearing black hoodies and spoke with a Dutch accent.

The criminal investigation department is looking into whether the perpetrators are responsible for both crimes.

The police are now looking for witnesses who can provide relevant information about the identity of the young people.
