Erkelenz-Gerderath - On Monday afternoon (September 1), there was an incident of road rage and a subsequent hit-and-run on Lärchenweg.
At around 4.30 p.m., a 44-year-old man from Erkelenz was riding his bicycle on Vossemer Straße in the direction of Vossem when a black BMW SUV came towards him. According to the cyclist, the driver of the car, a corpulent blonde woman with a southern appearance, did not keep the required distance to the side. After the cyclist from Erkelenz hit the side mirror of the BMW with his fingers, the woman turned her vehicle around and drove after the cyclist. At the junction with Meister-Gerhard-Straße, she overtook the bicycle and slowed it down. The 44-year-old continued onto Lärchenweg and was pursued by the BMW driver. On a bend, he lost control of his bike and fell onto the road. The passenger of the SUV, a dark-haired man about 160 centimetres tall with a southern appearance and a cap, then got out of the car and punched the cyclist in the face.
The police are now looking for the occupants of the BMW to clarify the incident.
