Man injured by gunshot

On Friday, February 28, the police were called to Konrad-Adenauer-Platz in Erkelenz at around 10:50 am. A shot had been fired there shortly beforehand and, according to initial findings, one person was seriously injured. The man was taken to hospital. The suspected perpetrator, a 43-year-old man from Erkelenz, was arrested by police officers near the scene of the crime. Investigations into the crime and its background have been launched and are currently ongoing. The train station in Erkelenz was cordoned off for the duration of the investigation; there is no danger to passers-by.
