At around 8 p.m., the 19-year-old driver of a motorcycle was traveling on Nordpromenade in the direction of Theodor-Körner-Straße. At the same time, a man was driving his car on the Ostpromenade in the direction of the traffic circle. According to the young man from Erkelenz, the car driver then entered the traffic circle, forcing the motorcyclist to brake and causing him to fall. The driver of the car only asked if everything was all right and then continued on his way. The car is said to have been a white vehicle, similar to a van. The driver was around 30 to 40 years old, about 175 centimetres tall, black-haired and of southern appearance.
