Erkelenz-Bellinghoven/-Granterath - Once again, elderly people in the district of Heinsberg have been contacted by fraudsters on the phone in order to obtain their bank cards. On Friday (May 16), an unknown man called a woman from Bellinghoven and asked for sensitive account details over the phone. Between 5 p.m. and 5.15 p.m., another man then appeared at the home address and took the senior citizen's bank card. The man who picked up the card was around 25 to 30 years old and about 170 centimeters tall.
At around 6.30 p.m., a man from Granterath was then contacted by telephone by an alleged bank employee. He was also led to believe that he had problems with his account and a few minutes later a man appeared at his home address to collect his bank card. The elderly man became suspicious at the front door and ultimately did not hand over the card. He described the man collecting the card as being about 170 to 180 centimeters tall and in his early 20s with dark hair. He was dressed in a dark blue T-shirt and light-colored trousers.
