Heinsberg-Schleiden - A 14-year-old girl was walking along a country lane between Janses Mattes and Schleiden last Saturday (August 30) at around 1.30 pm. She was leading her horse on a rope beside her.
A tractor with a trailer approached from behind from the direction of Janses Mattes and, according to the girl, was traveling at high speed. The tractor and trailer drove past the young woman from Heinsberg and her horse. At this moment, the horse shied and bolted. The 14-year-old girl briefly held on to the horse, was dragged along the ground and sustained injuries.
The driver of the horse and cart, a bald man, looked back briefly, but eventually drove on towards Schleiden.
The police are now looking for the driver to clarify the incident.
Persons who can provide information about his identity and other witnesses are asked to contact the Heinsberg police traffic commissioner's office on 02452 920 0.
