A traffic accident occurred at the junction of Krefelder Straße and Roermonder Straße at around 00:40 on Sunday, October 20.
A 19-year-old female motorcyclist from Erkelenz was traveling on Roermonder Straße coming from Wegberg in the direction of Erkelenz. At the junction, she intended to turn right onto Krefelder Straße. As the traffic lights were green for her, she drove over the stop line into the intersection. At the same time, a white BMW coming from Aachener Straße also entered the intersection via Krefelder Straße and turned into Roermonder Straße. The driver drove his car into the lane of the motorcyclist. She tried to swerve out of the way and fell to the ground. When she fell, she hit the BMW, causing the sill of the vehicle to break off. The driver of the car slowed down briefly, but then drove off in the direction of Wegberg without stopping.
The vehicle part and paint chips from the fleeing car were recovered at the scene.
The police are asking anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of the damaged car or its driver to get in touch. It is a white BMW car, probably a station wagon, with a "Maxton Design" sill torn off.
