A traffic accident occurred on Alfred-Wirth-Straße on Thursday, October 17, at around 7.15 am. A 19-year-old car driver from Erkelenz was driving his vehicle on Alfred-Wirth-Straße coming from Erkelenz in the direction of Autobahn 46. Between Richard-Lucas-Straße and Wockerather Weg, he heard a loud bang and realized that his windscreen had cracked. According to initial findings, the damage could have been caused by a stone being thrown. After the incident, the young man managed to pull over without an accident. When filing the report, he stated that he had recognized a cyclist on the cycle path on the right shortly before the incident. He could not say whether the cyclist had thrown the stone or someone else. There is no bridge or similar in the vicinity of the scene of the accident and a collision with an animal could also be ruled out. To clarify what happened, the police are asking the cyclist, who was wearing a yellow high-visibility vest, to come forward. Witnesses who have observed anything are also asked to call the Heinsberg police traffic department on 02452 920 0.
