Heinsberg - The traffic commissioner's office is looking for witnesses and victims after a previously unknown moped rider endangered the road. The crew of a patrol car noticed a moped without a license plate on Hochstraße on Monday evening (June 10) at around 6.10 pm. The rider ignored the stop signs and accelerated his scooter. His route took him along Sittarder Straße, Westpromenade, Körbergasse, Apfelstraße, Patersgasse and back onto Hochstraße, where he turned left against the prescribed direction of travel. This almost resulted in a collision with a transport vehicle. Shortly beforehand, a cyclist, a man aged around 18 to 25 with a southern appearance, had to swerve out of the way of the oncoming scooter to avoid a collision.
The rider of the moped was wearing gray work trousers, a red fleece jacket and a green motocross helmet.
The police are now looking for people who can provide information on the identity of the fugitive as well as injured parties. Information can be obtained from the police traffic commissioner's office in Heinsberg, phone 02452 920 0.
